Stone Harbor Mayor Suzanne Walters announced that a voluntary evacuation of the Borough is in effect immediately due to the approach of Hurricane Sandy which poses a significant threat to Stone Harbor and neighboring coastal communities. A mandatory evacuation for all residents and visitors in Stone Harbor will be in effect starting Sunday, October 28th, at 9:00am and be completed by Sunday, October 28th by 9:00pm. At that time, access to and from Stone Harbor will likely be restricted.
As a result of the evacuation order, the Stone Harbor Harvest Festival for Saturday, October 27th is postponed, along with trick or treating on Halloween. Stone Harbor Borough Hall will be closed Monday and Tuesday, October 29th and 30th. And, the bulk trash pickup day scheduled for Monday, October 29th will be held instead on Monday, November 5th.
