Stockton University President Herman Saatkamp will be stepping down immediately from his post due to health issues. The school reports that Saatkamp will take a medical leave of absence effective on Tuesday, four months earlier than stated in his letter of resignation on April 22nd. Executive Vice President and Provost Harvey Kesselman will serve as acting President until July 1st. Saatkamp was scheduled to appear before a N.J. Senate Budget committee on Thursday regarding the school’s recent purchase of the former Showboat Hotel Casino. Last week the Stockton faculty voted “no confidence” in the outgoing president.
