The winningest college basketball coach in New Jersey history announced his retirement on Wednesday at the age of 74. Gerry Matthews retired from coaching with a career record of 603-243 in 30 seasons. He never had a losing season at Stockton and ranks among the top Division III coaches in winning percentage. Scott Bittner, a 44 year-old Stockton assistant will step-in as interim head coach for this season.
