STATE SENATOR MOVES TO ELIMINATE BEACH FEES

NJ State Senator Michael Doherty of Somerset County plans to draft a law that would eliminate beach fees across the state next summer.  Doherty is proposing that any shore community that uses federal or state money to rebuild their beaches after Hurricane Sandy provide free beach access to the public. The senator says beach fees are an unfair barrier for citizens to use something they pay to maintain and rebuild. The proposed legislation would also not permit towns to charge for using restroom facilities.
