STATE SENATE MAY KILL PARKWAY TOLL HIKE TODAY

The New Jersey Senate goes into a voting session today and may scrub plans for proposed toll hikes on both the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike. Senators say the toll hike isn’t needed because revenue from the increase was supposed to fund a tunnel project; that project has since been cancelled. Governor Chris Christie is still in favor of the toll hike, saying the extra revenue would pay for various state road improvements. The vote is expected this afternoon.
