Early Saturday morning, a patron in Resorts Casino approached security stating that there were “a couple of murderers on the casino floor.” The unidentified person said that the man and woman had been recently featured on America’s Most Wanted and local news stories, but they were unable to provide any names.
State Police detectives directed security to maintain surveillance on the suspects while they searched the internet for confirmation and photos of the pair. Detectives located a case on the America’s Most Wanted website that enabled them to identify the two as Michelle Costello, 43, and her son Peter Costello, 19, both of Las Vegas Nevada. Both were wanted by Las Vegas police in connection with the murder of Michelle’s husband, Bert English, 65, on September 20, 2010.
State Police detectives Thomas Wieczerak and Gene Hanemann were joined by an Atlantic City police officer as they approached and arrested the Costellos without incident. They contacted Las Vegas police and the FBI to notify them of the arrest.
The Costellos were lodged in Atlantic County jail on a no-bail fugitive warrant and await extradition.
