A deal struck between the federal government and United States Senator Frank Lautenberg will save the state some big money. The state was required to pay $271 million for the cancelled ARC Tunnel project. Lautenberg announced a deal that will only make the state pay $128 million if it is paid on time and the rest is placed in the state’s Congestion Mitigation Air Quality fund.
