STATE: EVACUATIONS LIKELY FROM HURRICANE IRENE

State emergency management officials continue to track the path of Hurricane Irene, which is expected to bring nasty weather to the Jersey Shore this weekend.  The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management admits that evacuations in some coastal communities is likely if the hurricane stays on its current path and brings a category one storm to our region over the weekend.  State Police are now encouraging people who live in coastal areas like Cape May County to make sure emergency supply kits for their homes and vehicles are fully stocked.  Police encourage residents to pay attention to local media to get the latest storm information.
