STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED IN NEWARK DUE TO KILLINGS

The mayor New Jersey’s largest city says a rash of violence in his community has caused a state of emergency.  Newark Mayor Ras Baraka addressed the media on Monday and announced that three people have been killed, eight others wounded in various shootings since Thanksgiving Day.  Part of Baraka’s plan will be to put a new precinct building in the city’s central ward.
