STATE BEACH FUNDING DOUBLED BY ASSEMBLY PANEL

The N.J. Assembly Environmental and Solid Waste Committee approved a doubling of state funding for beach replenishment and infrastructure maintenance. A Senate committee also passed a version of the legislation to increase money for the Shore Protection Fund from $25 million to $50 million per year. The bill is opposed by the New Jersey Sierra Club, claiming it diverts funding away from affordable housing and county health programs.
