SPORTS: RYNE SANDBERG QUITS AS PHILLIES MANAGER

So long, Ryne Sandberg.  The manager of the Philadelphia Phillies called it quits on Friday afternoon, saying he didn’t want to interfere with the new direction the team will be taking with major management changes.  Sandberg says he is dissatisfied with the record of the Phillies, who are arguably the worst team in Major League Baseball.  Pete Mackanin will be the manager of the Phillies, at least through the weekend.
