A hearing is going to be held on Monday in Atlantic City on sports wagering. Legislation has been sponsored to make sports book legal in the resort. State Senator Jeff Van Drew is among the sponsors of the bill. Van Drew believes if it was made legal in the state and done in the controlled walls of Atlantic City, then the process would become more fair and safe. There is going to be a public hearing in Atlantic City on the bill and Van Drew will testify at it on Monday. The bill was recently approved by the Economic Growth Committee in February by a vote of 4-0, with one abstention. Under current law, constitutional amendments require an additional public hearing, to give the public another chance to testify on the bill, before it goes to the full Senate for consideration.
