SPORTS: COLE HAMELS GETS ONE YEAR DEAL WITH PHILS

The Philadelphia Phillies have avoided arbitration with pitcher Cole Hamels.  The Phils announced today that they avoided arbitration with Hamels by signing him to a one year, $15 million contract.  Hamels’ new contract reportedly includes plenty of incentives for various goals that he may reach during the 2012 season.  The Phils also avoided arbitration with infielder Wilson Valdez, signing him to a one year contract.
