NO SPORTS BETTING THIS WEEKEND, JUDGE PUTS ON HOLD

Monmouth Park was ready to host sports betting on Sunday, it won’t happen. A judge placed a hold on sports betting in the state, agreeing with the four major sports leagues and the NCAA saying that it could bring harm to the leagues. The case will still get a day in court to hear full arguments, but the judge wouldn’t let the state go forward with sports betting in the short term until the case did get a day in court. Lawmakers have argued that sports leagues couldn’t be negatively impacted because there already is sports betting in Las Vegas.
