A South Jersey man has been sentenced to state prison for possession of a stolen vehicle. The State’s Attorney General Paula Dow says that Tyrone Gittens was sentenced to four years in prison. Gittens’ sentence was based on his guilty plea to third-degree receiving stolen property. The charge was contained in a Burlington County grand jury indictment returned on Dec. 21, 2010.
In pleading guilty on June 6, Gittens admitted that between March 14 and March 21, 2007, he was in possession of a stolen 2007 Dodge Charger, knowing that it had been stolen. An investigation by the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor determined that Gittens removed or altered the vehicle identification number of the Charger for the purpose of concealing the theft of the vehicle.
