South Jersey Gas announced today that following the holiday weekend, the company will be working through July to complete the connection of customers to a new high pressure gas main in the area of New York Ave. in North Wildwood. The streets identified for work include:
This project is being completed now to make sure customers in this area can be transitioned from the current low pressure main to a higher pressure system well ahead of the upcoming winter season. The increase in pressure will improve the flow of natural gas and ensure improved reliability for customers.
A substantial portion of the improvements will be completed behind the curb, which is out of the street. SJG will be working closely with the Mayor’s office to minimize inconveniences to property owners and visitors. While SJG completes this work, residents and commuters in the area may see some detours on these roadways, but no full road closures. Access to properties will be maintained throughout the course of construction. Work hours will be approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The expected completion timeframe for this project is late July/early August.
