More than 150 teachers from the Somers Point school system filed into the local school board meeting Thursday night with protest signs. The teachers have been working for two years without a new contract. NBC-40 reports that school board members feel proposed salary increases are too high, as parents spoke out in support of a pay raise for the teachers. Another round of negotiations are set for October 27th and union representatives say there are no imminent plans for a strike.
