A Somers Point man was charged in a January accident that left his passenger dead and a bystander seriously injured. Antonio Vargas was charged with aggravated manslaughter a, aggravated assault, driving on a suspended license, which is a third-degree crime. Vargas was alleged to be driving while intoxicated. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and hit a telephone pole. The vehicle ended up in the entranceway of Gregory’s Restaurant & Bar. Bail was set at $350,000. Another man was hospitalized as a result of the accident.
