A sixth-grade class at Sandman Elementary School visited Arlington National Cemetery this week for a memorial service. The class raised money to visit the service of U.S. Army Capt. Brian Faunce. He died near Baghdad in 2003 and had a marker just outside the school during the Run for the Fallen. The class wrote letters to the family and were invited to the ceremony when the Faunce family received permission to have a memorial service and marker at Arlington for Brian. The class needed to raise $2,200 but they well surpassed that number. The extra money went to purchasing two memorial benches and a wreath for the Faunce family outside of the school.
