School votes got more people than usual out to the polls, especially with all of the news about state aid cuts. Six Cape May County communities had their school budgets rejected. North Wildwood, Sea Isle City, Upper Township, West Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest voters all said no to the proposed budgets. Many school districts were presenting tax increases, along with reduction of staff and/or cuts in overall service as a results in drops of revenue from the state. Theses budgets will not be presented to the the respective township committees, who will decide if more should be trimmed from the budget or if it should be passed as is.
