Refugees from Hurricane Sandy were granted a two-week extension from FEMA’s Transitional Shelter Assistance program on Friday, just before benefits were set to expire. However, it’s estimated that about 100 people didn’t get the word from FEMA and checked out of their hotel rooms early on Saturday. The state Department of Community Affairs stepped-in to help those displaced families and individuals find rooms. sources report that all residents affected by the confusion were placed in new accomodations by Saturday night.
