The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has relocated seven families in Vineland due to a potential dangerous ammonia gas release from a facility on East Pearl Street. A recent routine inspection of the refrigeration system at South Jersey Ice and Cold Storage found it to be in a “state of disrepair”. The EPA will supervise the removal of 12,000 pounds of ammonia from the system this weekend. After a scrubbing device is installed to the system, residents should be able to return to their homes.
