No decision has yet been made on how to handle the sale of outdoor liquor in Sea Isle City. The issue arose when La Costa was allowed to continue sales of alcohol in their outdoor area until 2:30 a.m. A challenge had been presented in court by one of the other establishments in the city, but the judge accepted the interpretation of Solicitor Paul Baldini.
Baldini said La Costa met the guidelines of being full enclosed because of the walls surrounding the bar and the fact you could only enter the area via the main bar and not from the street. All other outdoor liquor sales must end by 11 p.m. An amended ordinance may be presented at the next council meeting on the issue.
During last week’s meeting, council appeared split, with some wanting to keep the laws the way they are and others wanting change. Other bars are expected to make modifications to stay open later if nothing is done to the ordinance.
