The years of no tax increase in Sea Isle City could be coming to an end. Mayor Len Desiderio provided his budget message this week and proposed a 1.9 cent increase to the local tax rate. Prior to Hurricane Sandy, council was expecting a two cent increase based on increased health care costs and an increase to debt service. Mayor Desiderio did not recommend any increase to the water and sewer utility. Many communities are expected to have tax increases on the heels of the storm and clean up costs associated with it. Sea Isle City had to move their police and city hall operations following the storm because of flood damage.
