The future of the Lower Cape May Regional School District could be decided by voters this November. The Lower Cape May Regional school board voted unanimously to place two public questions on the November 5th ballot. The non-binding referendum will ask if voters want to dissolve the school district and allow Cape May City to withdraw from the district. Cape May officials have argued that their taxpayers are asked to pay significantly more per student than Lower Township residents because of the state’s funding formula. The question will be voted on by residents of Cape May, Lower Township and West Cape May.
