A major nuclear reactor in South Jersey experienced an “unusual event” that ended during the overnight hours on Friday morning. The Salem Sunbeam reports that the unusual event was declared at the Salem II nuclear reactor Thursday evening when some radioactive water leaked during a test of the emergency cooling system. No workers were contaminated, and authorities maintain there was never a threat to public safety.
