On Friday, Rutgers University President Robert Barchi held a one-hour press conference about the firing of the men’s basketball coach and resignation of the athletic director. On Monday, Barchi is scheduled to hold a town hall meeting at the school’s Newark campus. Many students, alumni and faculty members are not happy with the way Barchi handled the scandal and are calling for his ouster. The focus of the meeting will be the reorganization of the state school. A proposal to merge the Camden and Newark law schools will be discussed, as well as plans to merge Rutgers with the state’s University of Medicine and Dentistry, at a cost of up to $75 million.
