Work has commenced on the roof rehabilitation project at the Wildwood Crest Pier Recreation Center, the Borough of Wildwood Crest has announced.
This extensive rehabilitation project, which began Oct. 12, is being performed by Dell-Tech, Inc., of Trenton, under the supervision of Van Note-Harvey Associates, the borough’s engineering firm.
The project includes replacement of all existing sloped roofs, including the gymnasium roof, with a standing seam metal roof system and the replacement of all existing flat roofs with a new EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) roofing system. In addition, all rooftop HVAC mechanical units and all second-floor and above windows, doors, siding and trim will be replaced.
No work is being done to the first floor of the building. The project is expected to be completed, weather permitting, by January 2012.
At this time, all programs and activities at the Crest Pier remain on schedule and will be held as planned. There may, however, be occasional shutdowns of the gymnasium while work is being executed on the gymnasium roof, according to the borough engineer. Advance notice of any cancellations or postponements will be provided as quickly as possible. In addition, a portion of the Crest Pier parking lot is being used for equipment storage during this work and will be unavailable to the public.
