A state Supreme Court justice who has refused to weigh in on cases has announced he will not seek another term on that court. Justice Roberto Rivera-Soto made that announcement on Monday. Governor Chris Christie announced that he will not provide a nominee for Justice Rivera-Soto’s seat until Anne Patterson receives a fair hearing as required by New Jersey’s Constitution. Patterson was nominated by Christie to fill a seat previously held by Justice John Wallace, but he was not renominated by Christie. This moved irked many Democrats who have refused to hear Patterson as a nominee.
