He says he didn’t do it. The former superintendent of the Toms River school district was in court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to charges that he swindled nearly $2 million in various bribes and kickbacks. The 62-year old Ritacco has been indicted on fraud and bribery charges; he was arraigned in a federal courtroom on Wednesday morning. Ritacco’s lawyers say he is innocent. He stepped down from his job with the school district the same day he was arrested, on October 21st.
