REQUEST FOR DEEPER MINES REJECTED BY MIDDLE RESIDENTS

At a public hearing on Monday, residents of Middle Township voiced their objections to a proposed change that would double the depth for digging in local mines. A sand mining operation on Indian Trail Road requested the change, in order to supply materials for the Garden State Parkway reconstruction project. Before changing the ordinance, Township Committee indicated they may get a scientific study on impacts to the local water supply.
