Approve a budget for your city or accept a fine. That’s the message the state of New Jersey has delivered to Wildwood city officials who are still working on a municipal budget for the resort. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Department of Community Affairs has threatened to fine Wildwood for failing to introduce and pass a new municipal budget. Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano says city leaders are still working on a spending plan that would include no tax increase. A layoff plan has been submitted to the state that could slice 22 jobs in city government.
