There’s a new effort in Trenton to end unemployment benefits for seasonal workers; that move would have a huge impact on Cape May County’s workforce. The Gazette Leader reports that the governor’s Unemployment Insurance Task Force has recommended ending unemployment benefits for seasonal workers. At a November meeting, officials from Cape May and Cape May Point pushed for changes in state law to end unemployment benefits for public workers who are hired just for the summer season. Many local shore resorts hire summer workers including beach tag checkers, lifeguards, public works, and recreation employees.
