Many New Jersey seashore communities say their boardwalks will rise again in advance of the next summer tourism season. The Star Ledger reported over the weekend that Belmar has issued a $6 million bond to rebuild its boardwalk that was wiped out from Hurricane Sandy. Belmar lost its entire boardwalk and all of the stores and shops. A $12 million boardwalk project is also scheduled to get underway in Seaside Heights, where all but one block of boardwalk was destroyed.
