A new report says the funding source to preserve open spaces in the state has run dry. Northjersey.com reports that the last of $400 million that was appropriated to Green Acres in 2009 has run out and there remains no dedicated funding source for the future. The last bit of money was approved via a ballot question, which had the state go out for a bond. The report says past funding was always collected through bonds on ballot questions, but the passing margin has slimmed each and every time.
