It looks like one of the big problems with the South Jersey Economic Development District is the way it handled grant funding. The South Jersey Times reports that an audit has uncovered major problems with how the district handled grant funding. Salaries, wages, and other perks exceeded how much money the district was bringing in. The district is now headed up by former Cape May County Administrator Steve O’Conner. He told the Times that two employees have been laid off and some duties have been outsourced.
