A new report says the fight over expanded gaming options in the state isn’t completely off the table. The Press of Atlantic City reports a couple of lawmakers are considering a push for video lottery terminals to place at two racetracks in the state (Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands). These VLT’s are similar to slot machines, in that they are stand-alone machines that contain a random generator. People can bet on the outcome of the game. A ballot question was widely defeated to expand casino gaming in the state, but it is believed these VLT’s would be allowed. Back in 1983, the state was considering implementing VLT’s.
