REPORT: PUBLIC INFORMATION COULD HAVE BEEN SOLD AT AUCTION

A new state report says some computers that were to be sold at public auction could contain public records on them. State Comptroller Matthew Boxer said information like social security numbers, child abuse records, and memos were all left on computers. Boxer stepped in and stopped the computers from being sold last summer. It is unclear how long this practice has been going on. Boxer says information like this might have been sold across the globe.
