REPORT: NEARLY $10 MILLION IN EXTRA PAY HANDED OUT TO TURNPIKE AUTHORITY EMPLOYEES

The state’s major toll road operator handed out some pretty substantial checks last year. The Asbury Park Press reports that $9.7 million was paid outside of regular salaries. These items included sick time and vacation payouts, overtime, and bonuses for items like snow removal and holidays. Retirement payouts have been capped at $15,000, but employees who accumulated additional days prior to the cap being put into place were able to keep those days.
