REPORT: MORE PEOPLE BILKING STATE’S UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM

A report in the Star Ledger indicates that fraudulent unemployment claims have stripped about $25 million out of the state’s unemployment insurance program each of the past two years.  More than 7,300 bogus claims were filed in the state of New Jersey last year, according to the Star Ledger, and many of the claims were from workers who were laid off, and kept collecting ever after finding a new job.  About $97 million in fraudulent claims have tapped the fund over the past four years.
