The reduction in flounder catches next year may be softened a bit. The Press of Atlantic City reports that a proposal to reduce the flounder catch by 43 percent next year may result in a 27 percent reduction with a three-year phase in of the proposed cuts. Some party boats and bait and tackle shop owners are crying foul over the cutbacks saying they will damage an already fragile fishing economy. The reductions would also affect commercial fishermen as well.
