The future of the B.L. England Generating Station in Upper Township is very much up in the air. The Upper Township Gazette reports that the fate of the power plant is uncertain now that the Pinelands Commission rejected a proposal to build a natural gas pipeline to service the plant. The Gazette reports that one coal burner has to be shut down per a state order. Mayor Richard Palombo admits that it isn’t clear what will happen to the power plant now that the pipeline has been denied.
