REPORT: COUNTY MAY CONSTRUCT NEW JAIL

It’s possible the County of Cape May could have a new jail in the near future.  The Gazette Leader reports that county freeholders are expected to approve a package this month that would allow the county to go out to bid on a new $37 million jail; bids could be received before the summer, and construction could begin before the end of the year.  County Sheriff Gary Schaffer says he’s been trying to get a new jail built for seven years.
