The president of the Cape May Chamber of Commerce says the chamber will end its relationship with the Cape May Harbor Fest due to a decline of the event, and will instead start a brand new event to feature Cape May businesses. The Lower Cape Gazette reports that the chamber believes Harbor Fest has deviated from its original purpose and a new event is needed. However, Mark Allen, one of the organizers of the event, says Harbor Fest will continue and will be retooled. He alleges that the chamber does quote “virtually nothing for harbor business, if you look at their website”.
