A standout soccer player for Sacred Heart High School was killed during a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon. The Press of Atlantic City reports today that 18 year old Nicholas J. Gazzara III was killed when he lost control of his car and hit an oncoming truck on Route 54 in Vineland. Gazzara was named to the Press of Atlantic City all star soccer team this year after he scored 42 goals for Sacred Hear this past season. Police say the accident took place near milepost 5 around 4:00pm on Thursday. Police believe Gazzara’s car spun, crossed the center line of traffic, and hit a box truck driven by James Williams of Hammonton. Williams is hospitalized with serious injuries.
