At a Tuesday city council meeting, protesters demanded that Bridgeton City Council condemn the fatal shooting of a Millville man by police last month. Council members refused to adopt a resolution to condemn the shooting as Mayor Albert Kelly said it was improper for them to get involved in the controversy during an active police investigation. Representatives of the New Jersey based National Awareness Alliance who spoke out at the meeting, were not happy with the lack of information released on the shooting. Jerame Reid, 36, of Millville, was shot by two Bridgeton police officers last month, while a passenger in a car driven by Leroy Tutt of Long Branch. The officers are on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
