On Monday the Lower Township Council selected a new municipal prosecutor to replace Peter Tourison, who recently resigned after being charged with drunk driving in Cape May on July 12th. The new prosecutor will be Frank Guaracini, who also serves as prosecutor for Stone Harbor and Avalon. Three other candidates applied for the position, including Ron Gelzunas, who was the Lower Township solicitor, until he was replaced by council with Dave Stefankiewicz. The approval vote was 3-2, with Republicans Tom Conrad, Erik Simonsen, and David Perry voting in favor of Guaracini and Independents Mike Beck and Norris Clark voting against him.
