A 20-year-old prisoner arrested on a warrant in West Wildwood escaped police capture. While at Police Headquarters conducting arrest procedures for the accused prisoner, David Lopusan managed to maneuver his way out of his handcuffs which were attached to a secured structure within the Borough’s processing room. Lopusan ran out of the prisoner’s entrance of the Police Department and traveled in an unknown direction. Area police departments assisted West Wildwood police in the search. Subsequent to a Sheriff’s Department K-9 tracking the scent of the accused, Officers were directed towards Lopusan’s residence. Consent to search the residence was acquired and David Lopusan was located hiding in a closet by Officers from the West Wildwood and Wildwood Police Departments. Lopusan was charged with Escape, a third degree crime; resisting arrest, a fourth degree crime and possession of hypodermic syringes, a disorderly person’s offense. Bail was set at $35,000
