According to an online report on www.pressofatlanticcity.com, a standoff between Lower Township Police and a Villas man ended after 10 hours on Sunday morning. Police told The Press that they took 34 year old Marlon M. McBean into custody after McBean conducted a standoff with police at his home on the 100 block of Poplarwood Road. McBean was given a mental evaluation and taken to the county jail; he’s charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and other offenses.
Police were originally called to his home Saturday evening when McBean was burning leaves in his yard. According to the report, McBean told police he was “trying to drive off demons”. McBean allegedly threatened officers with a burning log and even a metal rod. Police shot him in the leg this morning with a non-lethal beanbag. Four officers tackled him and he bit one officer on the arm.
