On Wednesday President Barack Obama granted Gov. Christie’s request for federal aid by declaring four South Jersey counties disaster areas. Parts of Atlantic, Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties suffered severe damage from “macro burst” storms and straight-line winds on June 23rd. The nasty weather caused damage and loss of electrical power to over 330,000 customers. Damage estimates for the four counties totaled over $15 million. The declaration will allow local governments to receive federal grants from FEMA as reimbursement for emergency expenses and repairs.
